NIS has experience in the supply of a full range of equipment for a wide and diverse range of high technology industries. We pride ourselves in offering quality economic solutions to the most demanding industrial challenges and requirements.
Supported by an extensive manufacturing and design facility NIS specializes in the supply of bespoke equipment and engineering services. We have the capability to undertake a range of projects from small machine upgrades to multi million pound work packages.
Using our in-house expertise in robotics and material handling we provide the aerospace industry with bespoke solutions. With the aerospace industry pushing the boundaries of material technology, sophisticated processes and materials must be handled with great care and precision. NIS provide design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and maintenance of systems to our clients and partners.
NIS has worked with BAE Systems for many years, designing and installing tool and component loaders used for press and furnace loading and unloading used in the manufacture of SPF (Super Plastic Forming) of aerospace components for both the Typhoon and JSF (Joint Striker Fighter) military aircraft.
Two basic designs have been used to meet the constraints posed by the work environment and foot print. These consist of a track and turntable system with the very latest incorporating an overhead gantry.
The equipment must face furnace temperatures of 950 degrees C when loading either tools or components and achieve positional accuracy in the furnace within millimetres.
NIS Ltd has established a working relationship with US based client L-3 Security & Detection Systems to provide X-ray scanning equipment. L-3 are world leaders in advanced screening technologies and NIS has a proven track record in the security market. NIS has built up extensive experience in the industry by providing design, manufacture, testing, installation and commissioning of X-ray scanning equipment for security services at ports and borders around the world, including the UK, Far and Middle East, Europe and Australia. Working in a collaborative manner with our partners at L-3 we have completed projects for scanning trucks and containers, cargo, baggage and vehicles, utilising X-ray technologies for multi-directional scanning using either fixed or moving rigs. The rigs we build incorporate motion systems, high penetration X-ray units and specialised detection components for non-intrusive inspection of a wide range of packages and materials.
NIS' design experience of scanning equipment, coupled with our manufacturing facilities, translate into fast turnaround and quality production on projects for our clients. Our capability for integrating sophisticated control systems also allows for advanced automation to be incorporated, increasing the accuracy, reliability, efficiency and throughput of scanning rigs. The capacity and resource for in-house testing and development is also available at our workshop in Chorley, whilst our site installation team is available for assembly and commissioning of systems at customer locations anywhere in the world.
Systems completed include Scanning gantries and portals, Large fixed site installations, Cargo and pallet scanners, Small vehicle scanners and Mobile scanning rigs
We have designed and installed many unique systems for the medical industry. For example, we have worked on bespoke equipment for contact lens production giving precise results and rapid production speeds.
We are able to produce systems of any size, from the small desktop and portable to full plant installations. We have a semi clean room on site which can be used for validation tests of full lines before they are delivered to our clients’ sites.
Typical projects have included:
- Contact lens ovens and production systems
- Inhaler testing units
- Robotic handling and controlled insertion equipment
- Epidural catheter end forming machines
We serve all areas of the food industry, from small systems to entire plant installations using cutting edge technologies.
