NIS has worked with BAE Systems for many years, designing and installing tool and component loaders used for press and furnace loading and unloading used in the manufacture of SPF (Super Plastic Forming) of aerospace components for both the Typhoon and JSF (Joint Striker Fighter) military aircraft.

Two basic designs have been used to meet the constraints posed by the work environment and foot print. These consist of a track and turntable system with the very latest incorporating an overhead gantry.

The equipment must face furnace temperatures of 950 degrees C when loading either tools or components and achieve positional accuracy in the furnace within millimetres.
