NIS make skills pledge
As part of an ongoing commitment to enhance in-house capabilities, NIS are increasing investment in the workforce and building upon existing strategies for improving vital skills.
In order to demonstrate the organisation's dedication to this responsibility, Richard Penrose, Managing Director of the company, has recently signed a Skills Pledge which outlines three main areas of focus for the future. The promises made include;
-
To actively encourage and support employees to gain the skills and qualifications that will meet the needs of the business and will support their future employability.
-
To further support employees to acquire basic literacy and numeracy skills and work towards their first full Level 2 qualification.
-
To demonstrably raise employees' skills and competencies to improve organisational performance through investing in economically valuable training and development.

The pledge is also signed on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills by Peter Mandelson, Secretary Of State. Additionally, the Skills Pledge is supported by the government's Business Link and Train To Gain schemes.
Now that the pledge has been made, the process of boosting the skill base of employees will continue by carrying out an assessment of the training priorities and building an action plan to deliver the commitments made. The implementation of the plan also links with the drive for continuous improvement of NIS standards.
