NIS wins 4th consecutive RoSPA gold

NIS is celebrating winning another of the prestigious RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards in 2010. The win marks NIS' 6th RoSPA award and the 4th Gold in a row. The Gold level marks an achievement of maintaining consistently high standards in Health and Safety performance throughout the year.

The award was presented at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on Tuesday 11th May. This year, the ceremony and gala dinner was hosted by Lord Jordan of Bournville, RoSPA President, Lord Hunt of Wirral, RoSPA Vice-President and Lord Brougham and Vaux, RoSPA Vice-President. Adrian Woodward, NIS Assurance Manager, attended to accept the award as the company's health and safety representative.

The RoSPA Awards scheme is not only about reducing the number of accidents and cases of ill-health at work; it also encourages organisations to develop robust health and safety management systems, such as the OHSAS 18001 accredited system operated at NIS.

David Rawlins, RoSPA's Awards Manager, said "NIS Limited has shown a commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its employees and others. Organisations which do this deserve to have such dedication recognised and that's where the RoSPA awards come in. As well as there being clear ethical reasons and legal requirements for good health and safety management, there is also a strong business case. RoSPA is delighted to publicly honour organisations which have demonstrated their work to improve performance in this sphere."

The RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2010 are sponsored by NEBOSH (The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), the leading health and safety professional examining body.
