The event resulted in a Supply Chain Coaltion Group being formed, with Tony Moore from BNS stepping forward to take on the role of Chair. Speaking about the groups activities Tony said “Looking back, it seems we have come a very long way in a relatively short space of time.  The group has been incredibly well supported, and has regular attendance from 16 companies currently working in the ND&MPG supply chain. From the outset, we realised that the benefits had to be mutual, and by defining our own objectives and standards we will ensure  that not only are we enhancing the nuclear safety culture at Sellafield but also ensuring we can transfer the learning to the other nuclear sites that the member companies work at across the UK.”

The group meet monthly, and have recently embarked on a series of workshops, facilitated by the ND&MPG assurance team, to measure their existing strengths and weaknesses using the rank and rating process that has already been deployed successfully across many areas of  the Sellafield Site.

Speaking about their involvement, NIS Ltd Head of Nuclear Business Development Gill Marsden commented “The coalition has proved an excellent forum for the Sellafield supply chain to share experiences, and examples of best practice. The WANO ethos of applying the highest standards and continually raising the bar not only leads to an increased understanding of nuclear safety issues but also realises benefits in all of the other industries in which we serve”.

Members currently include, BNS, Redhall Group, Gravatom, VT Nuclear Services, Cape, Shepleys, Doosan Babcock, Jacobs, Amec, Norwest Holst, NIS Ltd, Studsvik, React, Aker Solutions, KDC, Birse Nuclear and Morsons.
