Universities

NIS Ltd partners with several major universities and Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs. NIS Ltd is currently partnering on development projects and is developing a range of technologies for different market sectors along with the universities of Manchester, Lancaster, Liverpool, Glamorgan, Swansea and York .

NIS Ltd is supporting universities on projects funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Council (EPSRC) too. Current projects include Distinguish which is investigating the use of advanced tomographic techniques to detect threats in luggage for use in airports in the security sector.

NIS Ltd is also sponsoring postgraduate and doctorate students at the University of Manchester in both the nuclear sector and the application of Radio-Frequency (RF) and Microwave technologies to industrial processes. This will feed into the development of the next generation of machines for heating, cooking, defrosting and imaging industrial processes.

Industry

NIS Ltd is involved with several Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Knowledge Transfer Networks whose aim is to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technologies through to commercial exploitation.

The REFLATED project provides NIS Ltd with a fantastic opportunity to enter the recycling industry by integrating new, clean processing technology in a special purpose equipment -all this in partnership with 8 other companies- so that LCDs are recovered into novel products using environmentally-friendly restorative technology.

Within the nuclear industry NIS has developed significant experience in Alliancing and Partnering.The Company has formed close working relationships with a number of key Tier 2 organisations with the result that it entered into a number of Alliance type contracts and developed intimate understanding of the way they all operate.

Global Partnering

NIS Ltd has embraced globalization through setting up offices in both India and China. It has extended its partnering philosophy there and entered formal partnerships with Indian and Eastern companies. This has not only opened new routes to market for NIS but also given access to lower cost manufacturing suppliers.
