From the outset we produced welded fabrications which have met, or exceeded, the national and international standards for weld quality, integrity and durability. We have onsite some of the most highly skilled engineers with an extraordinary attention to detail that enables us to produce the very highest quality results.

A recent investment in semi-automated welding equipment with key hole plasma has further enhanced capability and our ability to adhere to industry standards (EN ISO 3834, EN 1090 Execution class 3, ISO 3834, ASME, AQAP, NDA Engineering Standards etc.).  The EXC3 accreditation allows us to add to our core business streams of Mechanical Handling equipment, gloveboxes and containments to allow us to manufacture supporting structures made of steel up to strength class S700 and structural components made of aluminum alloys.

Materials processed include:

  • Carbon Steels
  • Stainless Steels including Duplex
  • Aluminium Alloys
  • Nickel Alloys
  • Titanium
  • A range of other exotic materials

Examples of Fabrications:

  • Pressure Vessels
  • Pipework
  • High Integrity Tanks and Containers
  • Glove box Assemblies
  • Process Cabinets
  • Skid-Mounted Modules
  • Fuel Transport Packages
  • A range of associated equipment

We have the people, facilities and experience to deliver fabrications of varying size and complexity, and the drive to develop new manufacturing techniques provides the most efficient process for our clients.

Other achievements have included manufacturing nuclear transport flasks in duplex stainless steel and producing fabrications for nuclear and military applications in high strength, low alloy steels. NIS are able to carry out standard production tests on welded fabrications using destructive and non Destructive test regimes to a variety of standards:

  • BS (British Standards) EN ISO 15614
  • ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) 1X
  • PCN (Personnel Certification in Non-Destructive Testing) Level 2

In house methods are:

  • DPI (Dye-Penetrant Inspection)
  • MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection)
  • Visual Inspection
  • Eddy Current Testing
  • In House radiography interpretation

We are also able to carryout a number of other standard tests including:

  • Dimensional
  • Load Testing
  • Pressure Testing (Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Vacuum, Helium Leak Testing
