Established in 1983, we have a long and proud track record of delivering high quality, often bespoke, products and services across a broad range of markets.
From initial contact through to work completion, our Excellent People offer customer focused, pragmatic engineering services. Although bespoke solutions are one of our specialities, we also recognise the benefits of utilising and integrating existing technologies. Frequently drawing on our many years of experience and diverse industry presence, our focus is to deliver value-for-money engineering excellence to our current and future clients.
We are privileged to work for a wide variety of prestigious clients on some of the most exciting and complex engineering projects in the world. From cleaning up nuclear legacies to developing the next generation of security scanning products, the one thing all our projects demand is excellence in engineering and manufacturing.
Achieving that excellence is at the forefront of everything we do, working to the values that we have embedded within our people. This ensures that we perform to the very best of our collective abilities to deliver pragmatic, cost-effective services – powered by pride.
From new build and operations to waste treatment and decommissioning, we offer practical solutions for the most complex of nuclear challenges. With over 35 years' experience in the civil nuclear sector, we can provide a wide range of services, including fuel and waste handling, gloveboxes, hot cells, shield doors, flasks and mechanical systems.
We are hugely proud of the work we do to support the national defence programme. With security-accredited processes, people and facilities, we provide production capability to a number of sites around the UK through the provision of specialist plant and equipment, including process and handling systems and gloveboxes.
We have a long and proud history of providing robotics, automation and mechanical handling equipment to a variety of technology sectors, including aerospace, food, medical and security. Building on the vast experience we have gained in these sectors, we are now transferring our expertise to the academic, laboratory, healthcare and 'big science' industries.
We provide bespoke design and manufacture of plant and equipment by the transfer of technology across a wide range of markets.
Our highly skilled multidisciplinary design teams have a wealth of experience, derived from many years of delivering solutions across multiple high technology industries. Design has been an integral part of our service offering since our formation, providing full engineering life cycle support ranging from concept, scheme and detail design through to complete manufacturing readiness, validation and commissioning.
We are one of only a few companies that have such a strong pedigree in truly designing for manufacture. From our experience, early engagement with our technical teams in terms of constructability can lead to more pragmatic designs being produced and a significant reduction in risk profile once a project moves through to the manufacturing stage. To facilitate this, we can provide support to the client in terms of technical constructability reviews and guidance for manufacture at any point of the engineering life cycle.
Our in-house mechanical and electrical manufacturing capability is renowned throughout the industry for providing high class bespoke solutions, working to precise specifications to achieve our clients’ individual requirements. The production of complex, high integrity structures to exacting standards is one of our core competencies. Working from either our own manufacturing details or building to client design, we can produce a diverse range of products manufactured from numerous common and exotic materials.
To complement our manufacturing capability, we have further SQEP mechanical and electrical project build teams for assembly and testing, enabling us to provide a fully developed equipment and process integration service. As system integrators, we are adept at upgrading existing client systems to new, more effective solutions. The integration of 'off the shelf' and bespoke equipment into an existing process or plant enhancement can often create new risks due to compatibility issues with interfacing equipment. We are highly experienced at identifying and mitigating such risks, giving our clients complete confidence in our chosen design solution. We also have wide experience in the integration of industrial robots into fully commissioned manufacturing systems.
Our team of mechanical and electrical installation and commissioning engineers are also available and equipped with the knowledge, skills and accreditations to work/support in a wide range of environments throughout the world. We also have several security cleared personnel available to provide installation supervision to client contracts.
Our technical facilities are specifically set up to deliver services to the nuclear, manufacturing, aerospace and food industries.
We have been based in Chorley since 1983 and have developed our facilities over time to accommodate the market's continuously changing requirements. Ideally located between two major motorways, the M6 and M61, our premises are easily accessible from both the North and South; Manchester and Liverpool airports are also easily reachable. Our facilities include:
• 3,500m² production workshop
• 750m², 17m-tall high bay with 10t crane ideal for test rigs
• 600m², 10m-tall medium bay with 20t crane dedicated to stainless steel
• 65m², 20m-tall test tower with 10t crane
• 800m² workspace (with temporary housing when required)
We are passionate about the safety of our people, our environment, our communities and our industries. There is nothing more important to us than the safety of all our people in all that they do.
We take the management of health and safety extremely seriously and strive to ensure it is ingrained within our culture and paramount in all of our activities. Our integrated management system includes a comprehensive suite of health and safety policies and procedures and is fully accredited to ISO 45001:2018. We are committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for our employees and are proud to have been awarded the ROSPA Gold Award annually since 2006. Risk management is a high priority for us and risk assessments are carried out at various stages of the project life cycle. We have NEBOSH-qualified staff who carry out risk assessments and ensure measures are put in place to mitigate against, and control, risks arising.
We are totally committed to the care of the environment and this goal is achieved at all levels through the operation of an integrated management system which is appropriate to the nature, scale and environmental impact of our activities, products and services, in line with BS EN ISO 14001:2015. It is maintained by a series of internal audits, management reviews and independent external audits.
We are committed to providing our clients with a first-class engineering service through effective teamwork, quality procedures and a long-term commitment to continuous improvement. Our integrated management system is accredited to IS0 9001:2015 and is subject to regular management reviews to ensure its continued effectiveness. We are also accredited with EN ISO 3834 and EN 1090 Execution Class 4, the European standard which regulates the fabrication and assembly of steel and aluminium structures.
We recognise our responsibility to ensure all company, client and nationally sensitive information of which we are exposed to in our line of work are duly protected. As you would expect from our many years of experience working within the nuclear industry, we have a well-established security system and place contractual obligations on all our employees to ensure it is upheld.
As a rapidly growing business with a diverse and interesting order book, we have a variety of staff and contract opportunities. If you believe you display behaviours that align with our core values, we would love to hear from you.
As a people focused organisation, we have a range of benefits, policies and initiatives to suit everyone and we believe these are the driving factors in enabling our employees to deliver to their highest potential. Alongside health and safety, developing the skills and abilities of our employees is our priority. We will support you in your career progression, giving encouragement and providing opportunities for you to develop.
To all recruitment consultancies, temporary agencies or search and selection firms looking to represent candidates. We currently have a preferred supplier list in place for all permanent, temporary and fixed-term contract recruitment for all group companies across the business. We are therefore asking suppliers of staffing resources not to submit speculative CVs unless we have formally engaged you on a particular assignment. We do, however, review our preferred supplier list occasionally and if you would like to be considered in the future, please contact the HR team by emailing email@example.com.
